The Role

The Plant Clerk will perform duties to assist with the financial management and operational support of the asphalt plants. This position reports to the Plant Accounting Manager and works with the team to complete the accounting and administrative related tasks for the Asphalt Plant Division. Along with the daily and weekly routine tasks associated with the tracking & payment of materials received, this individual will also assist in the monthly financial closing process. This position requires an individual to work well in a team setting as well as demonstrate the ability to work independently. Good judgement and attention to detail are required in all routine duties and any other task assigned.

Responsibilities

• Data entry of daily plant material received along with relieving of material against vendor invoices.
• Ensure pricing of material invoices match approved purchase orders.
• Coding of plant material and hauling invoices.
• Review daily plant schedules and help ensure internal and external projects are setup timely.
• Works closely with the Accounts Payable team to ensure timely transactions, processes, and accuracy of plant related invoices.
• Assist with monthly reconciliation of inventory received and invoiced material to ensure accurate input.
• Generate and maintain various tracking reports in Excel.
• Assumes responsibility for working with other team members – Accounting Managers, Senior Accountants, AP administrators, Plant administrators, and Operational Supervisors.
• Performs other related duties as requested to assist the Accounting Department in meeting its goals.

Required Experience

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree (Accounting/financial background is preferred).
• Zero (0) – Three (3) years work history in an accounting or finance department.
• Working knowledge of construction equipment, materials, and terminology is preferred.
• Strong computer, communication, and excellent organizational skills.
• Willingness to take on additional tasks.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
